Current service status
Under the current state of emergency guidelines for COVID-19, Odyssey House Victoria are aiming to provide as many services as possible. The way in which those services are delivered may change over time to reduce risk or minimise the spread of infection.
If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms or are unwell, please contact us before any scheduled face-to-face appointments, at which time we will discuss alternative options to provide you with the necessary care and support. When attending our services, you must maintain a 1.5m physical distance at all times, and wear a mask, unless you have a medical exemption.

All Community Service programs are operating at this time but new referrals for home-based withdrawal are currently on hold. To prioritise client and staff safety, phone and web-based consultations are replacing in person contact where possible. There is some capacity to provide in-person contact where it is necessary for vulnerable clients.
Kids In Focus
- Open for referrals with reduced capacity
- Continuing to work with clients via phone and web, including identifying resources and material aid.
Aboriginal Metro Ice Program
- Providing assessments, referrals, counselling, secondary consults, etc over the phone.
Youth & Family Services
- Continuing to provide a flexible service primarily via phone and web including youth outreach, counselling and secondary consults
- Continuing to be available for referrals
- Young people who are bored and socially isolated are particularly at-risk for poor mental health and problematic substance use. They benefit from early intervention at this critical time in their development.
North and West Metro
- AOD Central Intake is unchanged
- Assessment, counselling, CRC, Overdose Response Prevention, Family Reunification and NRW are currently provided via phone and web conferencing tools
- In specific circumstances, limited face-to-face services may be provided, subject to screening processes and further Government guidelines.
Discovery Day Rehabilitation Program
- Delivered as online individual daily sessions with a mail-out of resources
- Referrals are currently available.
Werribee Needle & Syringe Program
- Currently has limited capacity and new referrals are on hold
- New clients seeking support should be referred to the National Debit Helpline on 1800 007 007.
- Staff continue to see clients while working from home providing more contacts of shorter duration
- The courts are making lengthy adjournments which will reduce demands on services but otherwise functioning normally
- Smart Recovery groups are now offered twice a week.
Melbourne Drug Court
- Counselling Team are on site at the court for Case Conferences; otherwise they are providing a phone and web-based service.
Drug & Drink Driver Behaviour Change Programs
- Currently provided via Zoom web-conferencing
- Other flexible arrangements will be considered for those with priority needs.
- Training is delivered as usual with increased access
- This is an ideal opportunity for professionals to take advantage of down time to complete existing training arrangements and upskill in AOD competencies.
Our Residential Services continue to accept new referrals and new admissions, with reduced resident numbers. Residents may choose to wear a mask, but are not currently required to in any group home. Our Community Services continue to provide individual and group treatment, counselling and case management support, either by telephone or video call sessions. Some limited face-to-face support can be provided when necessary. We are also providing free masks for vulnerable Victorians.
Therapeutic Community (Lower Plenty)
- Admissions are available. There may be a delay in responding to external referrals.
- Information and Prep groups have been replaced by individual phone contacts.
- Staff are negotiating with detox providers to have one cohort from admissions contained for the maximum stay at the detox before moving to the TC.
- Modified referral process.
- Recruited and inducted staff and will be accepting a limited number of new residents.
