Research Grant to Support Families

Odyssey House has been successful in securing a $30,000 research grant from the Australian Drug Foundation. The grant will enable us to further develop and assess the impact of our support program to families and friends of clients who are at risk of overdose.

Through our Intensive Support Program, we currently provide family and friends with information and support to assist them in understanding their loved one’s substance use and its consequences.  In addition, we inform them about overdose risks and how to recognise when an overdose has occurred, together with providing training around strategies on how to respond.

Evaluation of the program and co-design consultations will occur through a series of focus groups and information sessions with families and friends of our high-risk clients. This will allow us to understand which of our strategies and services are most beneficial in overdose prevention.
