Substance Use as Coercive Control

This animation explores substance use coercion, a term which refers to the use of alcohol and other drugs as a tactic of abuse and violence. Designed for frontline practitioners, managers and interested services, it aims to build awareness of how this issue affects families. Developed in collaboration with Odyssey Victoria and the Violence Against Women and Children research team in the Department of Social Work (University of Melbourne), the animation was funded through an internal Odyssey Victoria Innovation Grant.

Building Resilience through Counselling Advocacy and Education

The BRACE program embeds an experienced drug and alcohol/mental health youth worker in schools to provide holistic support to young people, with a focus on early intervention, prevention, and harm reduction. It also supports young people to remain in school with wrap-around outreach and social supports, along with capacity building for school staff.
