Kids In Focus Outings

Odyssey staff member, Marcus, volunteering to play Santa for the day.
Each year we provide hundreds of hampers to families and children at Christmas time. Over the festive season, we also organise a number of outings to provide fun for the kids, some special family memories, and a chance for those in recovery to connect with one other. The Kids in Focus (KIF) team had its annual Christmas Barbeque during December, at a playground/BBQ area in Edinburgh Gardens in Fitzroy. Of course, Santa visited and gave all the children a present. We had an area set up for the babies to play and bubbles were given out for everyone to enjoy. Also, in early January, the KIF families went on an excursion to Melbourne Zoo. Despite the rainy weather, many families and children enjoyed the day. One young mum was on her first major outing with her 5-month-old baby and the team were there to support her throughout the day. Morning tea of popcorn and fruit was provided, with chicken and salad for lunch. The children enjoyed some colouring-in activities while the adults spent time getting to know each other.
