Hope Restart Centre Progress

Construction of the Hope Restart Centre in Bairnsdale continues to progress well and the site has been a hive of activity since construction began in February this year. The roof has been installed, the walls are up, and all trades are now working to complete the building by the end of the year. Landscaping is partially complete and ready for installation of a hothouse, and local Rotary Clubs will build a gazebo on the property for residents and visitors.

The new centre will initially have 30 beds, expanding in stages to 45, then to its maximum planned capacity of 60 beds. It will be a family-sensitive environment, welcoming resident’s children over weekends and school holidays. Advertising has commenced for the role of the Manager of the Centre. A local Admissions office will be opened in Bairnsdale and we hope to welcome our first residents early in the new year.

The Hope Restart Centre would not be a reality without the tenacity of Margaret and Peter Down and the rest of the Hope Restart Board, who have seen this project through from day one of its inception, together with funding from the Commonwealth and State governments, Odyssey House Victoria and from philanthropic sources.
