BetStop

The new, national online gambling self-exclusion register, BetStop is now operational. People can request to exclude themselves from online gambling for a minimum of three months, up to a permanent exclusion. Our Residential and Community Services staff have begun educating people seeking help from Odyssey House services of this new strategy, to support people who have identified problem behaviours and harm when it comes to gambling. Some clients are proactive in letting us know they want to reduce or stop online gambling, while others come to realise over time that gambling has also been an addiction for them and that addressing this will help their overall recovery. This great new initiative gives people an extra way of controlling their access to all online Apps, as well as exposure to online gambling marketing, reducing the chances of any relapse.
